Small Town Riches

About Me

Hi everyone! ThaKevin Perrynks for taking the time to visit my blog.  My name is Kevin, and as the title may suggest i’m an aspiring entrepreneur from a small town in Ontario called Picton in Prince Edward County. I’m 33 years old (as of Sept. 2016), I have a full time job as a Control Room Operator at a cement plant, but i’m always looking for ways to create a better life for myself and the people around me.

Recently i’ve made a significant investment into Real Estate. I currently own 3 rental properties and a primary residence. It’s been exciting, educational, frustrating and at times worrisome, all you’ll hear all about my adventures as they happen. I’ll talk about the strange way I got started, what it’s like managing a reno two hours away, properties and strategies that are working well for me, how i’ve learned from mistakes that have come close to burying me, and my plans for future investments. Real Estate investing is not for everyone, but those that are doing it or considering it will find this informational and entertaining.

Since 2005, i’ve also dabbled in web design and online marketing. Everything i’ve learned has been self taught over many years of trial and error….not to say I never fell victim to the odd “Get Rich Quick” promise (which is kinda how the ball got rolling). The peak of my short career came in 2012 where I ran a fairly successful design and marketing business called 6StarMedia. Believe it or not, I was partnered with a woman from the other web design, website marketing, website design, online marketing, make money onlineside of the world in Australia. Things were going quite well and we were getting to that all important “Automation” stage (for anyone that has read 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss), but I screwed up big time and things eventually died off. I’ll tell you all about how I got started, how I managed with a partner so far away, as well as what led to the demise of the company.

Everyone knows the famous line: “A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned”. It’s absolutely true, but something that most people don’t necessarily think about. I’m not immune to this affliction either! I like “stuff” just as much as the next person, but as you get older and get more involved in your own finances, you start to take notice and wonder where all that hard earned money is going. For this topic, you’re going to learn right along with me and I hope to learn from you as well with your helpful comments. I’ll talk about DIY skills instead of paying someone to do it/make it, going green around the home, as well as financial practices to make the most of your hard earned money. Like I said, i’m no expert in this field but I hope I can share my trials and tribulations, as well as learn from you guys!

wendel, dog, my passion, make money reasonAbove are the main things I like to do and write about, but i’ll also get into a few of my other passions such as dogs. I love dogs! I have a 6 year old Lab named Wendel, and i’m not sure what I would do without him. He’s taught me a lot about responsibility, gives me exercise, as well as that thing to look forward to when you’ve had a long day at work. One of my long term goals has always been opening a dog rescue. Right now it’s probably not possible with my work schedule, so that’s been my motivation for building wealth so one day I won’t have to work a full time job, so I will have time to spend at home with the dogs. Everyone needs a motivation for trying to better themselves. That’s mine!

I truly hope you enjoy my writing and thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.
